This who they help:

The working poor. The newly homeless. Struggling seniors. The mentally ill. Whether underemployed or unemployable, the victim of tough times or tough streets, representing a long-term need or a short-term crisis, we try to help everyone who comes to us.

Our clients range from newborn to over 90; individuals to single parents to entire families; working, unable to work and unable to find work.

But one thing that many clients have in common? They never expected to need our help. (My comment- isn't that the truth!)

Be sure to see their tipping points

There is only one food bank in Vermont – the Vermont Foodbank. Food shelves, meal sites, shelters, senior centers and after-school programs throughout Vermont directly provide bags or boxes of food or meals and snacks to low income people. Foodbank network partners obtain food from the Foodbank, from individual donations in its community, and through wholesale and/or retail purchase.

Take for example Franklin County Vermont has these food sites and more listed for the county.

About the Houston Food Bank

The Houston Food Bank is the largest source of free and low-cost food for hungry people in 18 southeast Texas counties.  A network of more than 400 charities, feeding a total of 137,000 people each week, receives more than 46 million pounds of food and prepared meals annually.  Fresh produce, meat and nonperishables are distributed from Herzstein Center, a 73,000 square-foot warehouse, and hot meals are prepared and distributed from Keegan Center, a 15,000 square-foot industrial kitchen. Additional community services range from nutrition education to assistance with food stamp applications and hands-on job training.  Red Barrels offer a convenient way for grocery shoppers to donate nonperishables for their neighbors in need.  The Houston Food Bank, founded in 1982, is a certified member of Feeding America, the nation’s food bank network.  The organization plans to grow to an annual distribution of 120 million pounds of food by 2018.

Helping LA's Homeless

For all of the website and resources.

The Giving Spirit is privileged to work with the following organizations who join us in our commitment to help the most vulnerable of those who need to survive on the street - children, women and families.
Non-Profit Participation
The Downtown Women’s Center

Founded in 1978, the Downtown Women’s Center (DWC) is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization that provides 40,000 meals, 47 permanent supportive housing apartments, and a wide array of health, education, and other supportive services to more than 2000 homeless women each year. The Center’s mission is to offer a safe and supportive community along with the resources homeless women need to reconnect with their sense of self, reclaim goals lost in the day-to-day struggle for survival on the streets, and move toward self-sufficiency. In the local Skid Row community, the Downtown Women’s Center is the only resource that is exclusively for and singularly dedicated to serving the unique needs of this population. Established in 1978, DWC operates both a day center (providing meals and a wide array or resources on a drop-in basis) and a residence (47 single unit apartments providing permanent, affordable, supportive housing to formerly homeless women) out of two beautifully renovated, adjoining buildings located at 325 S. Los Angeles Street.

Food Pantry Programs Palm Beach County, FL

For all the website information.

Each bag of food distributed from the pantries contains a slip of paper which reads:

"This is a gift of God's love from local churches and synagogues. The

food pantry is a ministry of C.R.O.S. Ministries."

How we've helped Sharon and Jack were stable and secure until Sharon lost her job at the airline. Shortly after that, Jack was laid off. Their stability was suddenly gone and they were struggling to keep their home and feed their children. They came to the food pantry for help with food so they would have money to pay their mortgage.

Pantries locations are given below. You may go directly to the pantry and will receive assistance if you have not been to the pantry in the past three months. Persons visiting the food pantries should bring identification and the Social Security cards for all persons receiving food, and a paystub or an approval letter from HCD, WIC, SSI, Medicaid, Housing, TANF, free or reduced school lunch, food stamps, if available.
